The round UFO-like structure is the Buzludzha Monument, situated atop the Buzludzha Peak in the Central Balkan Mountains of Bulgaria. This imposing structure was built by the Bulgarian communist regime in the 1970s as a memorial to commemorate the founding of the Bulgarian Social Democratic Party. It served as a meeting place for the Bulgarian Communist Party until the fall of communism in 1989. Today, the monument stands abandoned, yet it remains a striking and somewhat eerie reminder of Bulgaria’s communist past, attracting curious visitors and photographers from around the world.
