Starting with Leviathan Wakes, this series is a space opera that combines gritty realism with high-stakes political intrigue, mystery, and action. It’s a character-driven storytelling.
I really like that the two main characters have two opposing worldviews. In comparison to other sci-fi books this is not too futuristic. It’s takes place when humans take the first steps at colonizing the solar system.
The main focus is on character driven story telling and not on world building and the sci-fi of it. A big reading of I like sci-fi books is the sci-fi. The book ends with a small cliffhanger. I’m still inclined to continue reading ‘The Expanse’.
