Measure/plan (Ausmessen/planen)
First step is to measure the dimensions and to think about where the threaded holes should end up. It is recommended to use a caliper (Messschieber).
Sribe (Anreißen)
Here we draw carve intersecting lines on the metal. If the line is not visible enough a colored surface is helpful. In the gif below the metal got colored with a blue marker.
Center punch (Körnen)
This is a tool used to mark the center point on a metal surface, typically before drilling a hole. It is used to create a small indentation or dimple to guide the drill bit and ensure it starts in the correct location There are automatic center punch tools that are springloaded and unleash their impulse when applied with enough pressure. Manual one have to be hit with a hammer or similar. Both have to be sharpened after use to ensure they puncture deep grove.
Drill hole (bohren)
What hole should we drill if we want to have a m3 thread? It is written right on the back of a caliper as you can see in Measure/plan (Ausmessen/planen). Here it is written to drill 2.5mm. Because of the indentation we made earlier the drill should be on the correct spot even if we drill free hand.
